We always have this meeting with patient experts to find out what they have done in their groups and difficulties they are facing in the voluntary work. The struggles they face are many. They report difficulties in changing mind-sets of family and society surrounding the patients. A lot of the patients they meet are very poor, and it is hard to help them with out being able to give them money, food or clothes. On the opposite side they talk about patients they were able to bring to the hospital. They receive love from the patients they meet with, and say it feels good to be able to help and to see recovery in their patients.
This meeting we also included a presentation from Sofie on psychiatry in Norway, and her usual job as a nurse at the acute psychiatry ward in Oslo. The Patient Experts listened and had a lot of questions for her.
