Street Kids attend Class- a story of rediscovery

22nd January 2015

Three months after their first class in October 2014 the NOUSPR class for street kids near Nyagatare is still going strong. With classes from early morning  till 3.00 in the afternoon ,the  subjects taught are English, Maths, Electricity and Sewing. During our visit we counted 29 students all learning sewing skills.

When asked why they attended and what they gained. A common response was ‘here we learn to make something of ourselves’. ‘If we were not here we would be getting into trouble’. The enthusiasm of the pupils is infectious, matched only by their ambition to succeed. With teachers like Anisie and her colleagues providing support and guidance the future for these youngsters has taken a massive step forward.
